TOPEKA, Kan. — Washburn senior middle hitter Allison Maxwell was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association volleyball co-offensive athlete of the week last Monday.

Maxwell (Blair Oaks High School) earned the honor for a second straight week for the Ichabods, who are ranked No. 1 nationally in Division II.

Maxwell recorded 10 or more kills during five straight matches to help earn back-to-back weekly honors from the MIAA. She finished with 13 kills Sept. 18 against then-No. 1 ranked Nebraska-Kearney, then followed that up with a team-high 13 kills Sept. 21 against Emporia State and 13 more kills Sept. 25 against then-No. 7 Central Missouri.

Through 15 matches this season, Maxwell is second on the Ichabods with 149 kills, averaging 2.9 kills per set, with a team-high .462 hitting percentage, the highest in the MIAA. She leads the team with 62 total blocks, which ranks in the top 30 nationally in Division II.

Washburn (14-1) hosts Missouri Southern on Friday.
