Beckford leads Lincoln women at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers finished seventh out of nine team Friday in the Gans Creek Classic.

Leading the way for Lincoln in the women's open division was Kelly-Ann Beckford, who placed 26th out of 83 runners with a 6K race time of 24:33.2. Maria Diamond was next for the Blue Tigers, placing 28th in 24:35.2.

Chrissani May took 51st place (25:57.0), followed by Jameaka Mannings in 53rd (26:05.6) and Shevannae Thomas in 71st (29:25.3) to round out Lincoln's team score of 191 points.

Also running for the Blue Tigers were Nehlia Mills (72nd, 29:25.9) and Aliyah George (74th, 29:34.6).

William Woods senior Alicia Engelbrecht (Helias High School) helped the Owls to a fifth-place finish with 129 points. Engelbrecht came in 15th place with a time of 23:37.0.

Redshirt senior Shaley Eichholz (Eugene High School) came in 76th place for the Owls with a time of 30:08.5.

Maryville senior Laura Sherwood finished 31st for the Saints with a time of 24:47.2. Maryville was eighth as a team with 217 points.

In the men's open 8K race, William Woods junior Landon Dunlap (Jefferson City High School) led all area finishers. He came in 12th place out of 86 runners with a time of 26:20.4.

Senior Hunter Carpenter (California High School) finished 33rd for the Owls in 27:37.5, while sophomore Jenson Starr (Helias High School) was 64th in 29:33.8 and freshman Dustin Russell (South Callaway High School) was 69th in 30:00.2.

William Woods was fifth in the men's team standings with 117 points.

In the women's classic 6K race, Missouri senior Abby Hake (Helias High School) came in 88th place out of 153 runners, clocking a time of 23:13.0. The Tigers finished runner-up in the team standings with 67 points.

Saint Louis freshman Sara Wolf (School of the Osage High School) placed 124th with a time of 24:13.1. The Billikens were 12th in the team standings with 305 points.

In the men's classic 8K race, Bradley freshman Jack Crull (Helias High School) took 111th place out of 183 runners with a time of 25:59.7. Bradley took third as a team with 94 points.
