CHILLICOTHE - Lightning suspended play Friday night for the Jefferson City Renegades and the Chillicothe Mudcats.
The Mudcats scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead, and after the third out was recorded, play was stopped due to lightning. The game did not resume Friday.
According to Paul Sturm of the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, Friday's game is tentatively scheduled to resume tonight. The Mudcats and the Renegades already have a MINK League matchup scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start in the second contest of a two-game series.
The Renegades scored their runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Hamilton Anderson and Andrew Paten hit back-to-back doubles to start the top of the fourth, scoring Jefferson City's first run. Seth Denoyer's RBI single scored Paten to give the Renegades a 2-1 lead.
Chillicothe scored three runs to take a 4-2 lead, but the Renegades tied it in the top of the fifth. Josef Keilholz hit an RBI single and Caden Diel drew a bases-loaded walk.
Xander Lovin pitched the first five innings for the Renegades. He gave up four runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
