SEDALIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Renegades gave up the first run Monday night. They answered by scoring the next 11 runs.
Jefferson City plated three runs each in the fifth and sixth innings, then added four runs in the seventh for an 11-1 run-rule victory against the Sedalia Bombers in MINK League action at Liberty Park.
After an intentional walk loaded the bases in the bottom of the third inning for the Bombers, Braden DeSoria singled to left field, scoring Kellen Williamson to give Sedalia a 1-0 lead.
It was all Jefferson City after that.
The Renegades evened the score at 1 in the top of the fourth when Carter Mize scored on an error.
Tommy Ruether, who led Jefferson City with three RBI, hit a two-run single with the bases loaded in the fifth. Caden Diel then scored on another Sedalia error to put the Renegades ahead 4-1.
Jefferson City loaded the bases again in the sixth. This time, Seth Denoyer hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Hamilton Anderson. Josef Keilholz scored on a passed ball and Denoyer scored on an RBI groundout by Diel to make the score 7-1.
The Renegades batted around the order in the seventh. For the third straight inning, the Renegades loaded the bases, following a double by Brady Voss, a walk by Anderson and a hit by pitch to Andrew Paten.
Keilholz was then hit by a pitch, forcing in Voss, and Denoyer drew a walk, scoring Anderson to push the lead to 9-1. Ben Burton's RBI single and Ruether's RBI single later in the inning gave the Renegades a 10-run lead.
Austin Brewer, Xander Lovin and Colton Hoelscher combined to hold Sedalia (10-13) to five hits in seven innings.
Brewer was the winning pitcher. In four innings, he gave up one run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Lovin pitched a scoreless fifth inning, while Hoelscher tossed the final two innings, striking out two and allowing two hits.
Ruether and Burton each had a pair of singles for the Renegades, who finished with seven hits. Denoyer drove in two runs.
Jefferson City (12-12) will play at 7 p.m. today at Joplin before having an off day prior to Thursday's MINK League All-Star Game at Vivion Field.
