Lincoln track and field wins five events at UCM Invitational

WARRENSBURG - The Lincoln men's and women's track and field teams came away with five event wins Friday in the UCM Invitational.

Kelly-Ann Beckford was a triple-winner for the Lincoln women. She took first in the mile run with a time of 5:12.93 and also recorded a win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.01.

Beckford also helped the Blue Tigers win the women's 4x400-meter relay. Along with Kimone Campbell, Maria Diamond and Chrissani May, Lincoln crossed the finish line first in 3:56.34.

Diamond posted a victory in the women's 600-yard run with a time of 1:24.84, winning by more than four full seconds.

On the men's side, Kizan David had the Blue Tigers' lone win, placing first in the triple jump with a distance of 48 feet, 10.75 inches.

In the final team standings, the Lincoln men finished fourth out of seven schools with 54 points, while the women took sixth with 47 points.

Also recording points for the Lincoln women were Aliyah George in the 400-meter dash (fourth, 1:01.43), May in the 800 (fifth, 2:26.46) and May in the mile run (sixth, 5:22.59).

In addition to David's performance in the triple jump, the Lincoln men had several top-four finishes at the Invitational.

In the 400, Reuben Nichols took second with a time of 52.30 seconds, while Yardley Pierre-Louis was right behind him in third place at 52.51 seconds.

The Blue Tigers also finished 2-3 in the men's 200-meter dash. Shemar Fletcher was runner-up with a time of 23.08 seconds and Pierre-Louis added another third-time finish at 23.24 seconds.

Pierre-Louis was joined by Colby Jennings Jr., Rashane Bartlett and Kewani Campbell in the 4x400, which finished second with a time of 3:26.49.

Finishing in fourth place for the Lincoln men were David in the 60-meter dash (7.02 seconds) and Jennings Jr. in the 600 (1:15.19).

Central Missouri junior Baylie Bellin (Blair Oaks High School) placed sixth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 45-9.75, helping the Jennies to a first-place finish in the team standings with 159 points.

Missouri Southern sophomore Mason York (Jefferson City High School) finished fifth in the men's pole vault, clearing a personal-best 15-10, which is also a provisional mark for the NCAA Division II national championships.

Southwest Baptist senior Rachel Holt (Jefferson City High School) took ninth place in the women's pole vault at a height of 10-4.25.
