Women's Basketball: Backes ties for team-high in scoring

COLUMBIA - Columbia College freshman guard Abby Backes scored a season-high 12 points Tuesday in the Cougars' 78-36 win against Stephens College.

Backes (Tipton High School) was one of four Cougars to finish with 12 points. Backes reached double figures in just 10 minutes off the bench, shooting 3-of-5 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed three steals.

In three games this season, Backes is averaging 7.7 points per game for the Cougars.

Columbia College (5-2), which received votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll, plays tonight at Hannibal-LaGrange.
