College Track and Field: AMC Last Chance meet

ELSAH, Ill. - Five area athletes recorded first-place finishes Saturday in the American Midwest Conference Last Chance meet at Principia College.

Columbia College sophomore Makenzie Schwartz (Russellville High School) won the women's 60-meter dash finals with a personal-best time of 8.11 seconds. She also finished runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 9.85 seconds.

Columbia College junior Halie Moeller (Fatima High School) came in first place in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.00 in her only event.

William Woods junior Alicia Engelbrecht (Helias High School) was the only entry in the women's 5,000-meter run, posting a first-place time of 19:57.14.

William Woods senior Hunter Carpenter (California High School) ran on the Owls' distiance medley relay, which clocked a winning time of 10:57.83.

Williams Baptist senior Jacob Whittle (Eldon High School) helped his team's 4x400-meter relay to a first-place finish in 4:05.97. Whittle also placed second in the men's 400 in 53.15 seconds.

William Woods graduate student Charlie Schattgen (New Bloomfield High School) came in second place in the men's mile run with a time of 5:01.91.

William Woods freshman Easton Ambler (New Bloomfield High School) placed second in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.92 seconds and took 16th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.98 seconds.

Columbia College sophomore Trevor Bailey (Helias High School) took third in the men's long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 11.75 inches. He also finished sixth in the 60 finals with a time of 7.57 seconds.

William Woods sophomore Kristan Wilson (Eldon High School) finished third in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:49.45.

William Woods freshman Aliczander Nikonowicz (New Bloomfield High School) was sixth in the men's 400 (1:00.52) and finished 15th in the 200 with a time of 26.66 seconds.

Columbia College freshman Hannah Koenigsfeld (Linn High School) placed ninth in the women's shot put (31-3.25) and 11th in the weight throw (24-6.5).

Saturday's meet was the last of the indoor regular season for Columbia College, William Woods and Williams Baptist. The NAIA indoor track and field national championships are scheduled for March 4-6 at Yankton, S.D.
