College Softball: Bunch hits 19th homer for Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Northern Iowa redshirt senior shortstop Sammey Bunch hit a two-run home run Sunday, helping the Panthers to a 14-6 win in five innings against Bradley.

Bunch (Fatima High School) hit her 19th home run of the season in the second inning, extending Northern Iowa's lead to 6-0. She finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In 41 games this season, Bunch leads the Panthers with a .458 batting average (55-for-120) with 50 runs scored, 45 RBI and 10 doubles, posting a 1.067 slugging percentage. She has also walked 32 times and been hit by a pitch 12 times, giving her an on-base percentage of .604.

Bunch is tied for fifth nationally in Division I in home runs and is fifth in OBP and slugging, as well as sixth in runs scored and 14th in RBI.

Northern Iowa (25-16) plays a doubleheader Saturday at Illinois State.
