ST. LOUIS — William Woods freshman catcher Kamron Morriss and freshman designated hitter Tyklen Salmons both homered Monday in the Owls' doubleheader split against Harris-Stowe State.

Morriss (Blair Oaks High School) hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning of Game 1, a 16-10 William Woods loss. It was the first career home run for Morriss.

Salmons (South Callaway High School) belted a two-run home run in the seventh inning of Game 2, a 22-9 win for the Owls. That was also the first career home run for Salmons.

In 18 games this season, Morriss is batting .250 (12-for-48) with 14 RBI and three runs scored for the Owls. Salmons has played in 14 games, hitting .214 (6-for-28) with four RBI and six runs scored.

William Woods freshman Kaleb Haley (Helias High School) was the winning pitcher in Game 2. In 2 innings, he allowed four runs on six hits and two walks.

For the season, Haley has a 3-1 record in 10 appearances. He has recorded an 8.04 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 15 innings.

Redshirt junior Logan Bexten (Fatima High School) pitched one scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts in the win. In nine games, Bexten has a 3-2 record with a 4.04 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 49 innings for the Owls.

William Woods (18-15) hosts a doubleheader today against Williams Baptist.
