College Track and Field: William Woods' Carpenter wins men's 800

MONMOUTH, Ill. - William Woods junior Hunter Carpenter posted a win in the men's 800-meter run last Saturday at the Monmouth Midwest Indoor Invitational.

Carpenter (California High School) had a first-place time of 2:02.82 in the 800, winning by two full seconds ahead of Monmouth's Riley Dulin.

Carpenter also ran in the 4x400-meter relay with the Owls, who took sixth place with a time of 3:47.36.

Senior Damian Miller (Russellville High School) placed third in the men's pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, 5.5 inches.

Sophomore Alicia Engelbrecht (Helias High School) took fourth in the women's 3,000-meter run (11:44.47) and finished fifth in the mile run (5:44.50.).

Junior Naomi Kerkula (Jefferson City High School) competed in several events, but her best finish was taking fourth in the women's 60-meter dash final in 8.17 seconds. She also placed 10th in the 400-meter dash (1:12.72), 10th in the long jump (14-1) and helped the Owls to a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:37.03.

Freshman Kristan Wilson (Eldon High School) also ran on the 4x400. She also helped the Owls to a second-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay (1:54.26) and placed 10th in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:54.07.

Senior Charlie Schattgen (New Bloomfield High School) finished 10th in the men's mile run, crossing the finish line in 5:04.69.

Junior Harley Nale (Linn High School) came in 12th place in the women's mile run with a time of 6:09.91.

William Woods competes Saturday in the Snow Bird Open at Illinois College.
