College Track and Field: Shea wins mile run at Missouri Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA - Southeast Missouri senior Kaitlyn Shea won the women's mile run last Friday at the Missouri Intercollegiate in the Hearnes Center.

Shea (Helias High School) crossed the finish line in 5:02.83, finishing more than five seconds ahead of runner-up Isabelle Christensen from Missouri.

Missouri sophomore Abby Hake (Helias High School) finished seventh in the women's mile run with a time of 5:38.95.

Shea also helped the Redhawks to a second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay, as they posted a time of 10:07.66, losing by six-hundredths of a second.

Missouri freshman Devin Roberson (Jefferson City High School) finished third in the men's shot put with a toss of 54 feet, 2.75 inches.

Missouri junior Jason Edwards (School of the Osage High School) tied for seventh in the men's long jump with a leap of 21-5.5. He also placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims (8.95 seconds) and 11th in the shot put (38-4.75).

Southeast Missouri senior Nick Yaeger (Blair Oaks High School) was 12th in the men's shot put (37-6.75) and 14th in the 60 hurdle prelims (9.34 seconds).

UMKC senior Louisa Nylander (Jefferson City High School) took 16th place in the women's 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.25 seconds.
