Women's Basketball: Martin scores team-high 22 points for Salukis

DES MOINES, Iowa - Southern Illinois senior forward Nicole Martin led the Salukis with 22 points last Friday in a 91-76 loss to Drake.

Martin (Jefferson City High School) shot 9-of-14 from the floor and went 4-of-4 at the free-throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds and added two assists.

Drake redshirt senior forward Sara Rhine (Eldon High School) finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.

In 22 games this season, Martin is second on the Salukis with 12.5 points per game. She is also second on the team with 5.4 rebounds per game.

Rhine followed Friday's win with a career-high 31 points Sunday in an 89-83 loss to Missouri State. She finished with a double-double, adding 12 rebounds.

Through 23 games, Rhine is second on the Bulldogs with 17.8 points and leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. Her 66.8 shooting percentage (171-of-256) still ranks fourth in NCAA Division I.

Southern Illinois (13-9) plays Saturday at Missouri State.

Drake (16-7) plays today at Evansville.
