Franklin runs for 244 yards in road loss for Lincoln

PITTSBURG, Kan. - Pittsburg State pulled away from Lincoln in the second quarter to hand the Blue Tigers a 56-14 loss Saturday in MIAA play.

The Gorillas marched 53 yards in six plays on their opening drive, ending the scoring drive with Brandon Mlekus' 6-yard run.

Lincoln tied the game at 7 when Hosea Franklin ran 54 yards for a score with 12:39 left in the first half.

The 15th-ranked Gorillas then found the end zone three times to lead 28-7 at halftime and scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Franklin ran it 29 times for 244 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Desmond Hunter added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Mak Sexton led Pittsburg State (5-0) with 244 yards and three touchdowns on 14-of-17 passing.

Lincoln (0-5) hosts Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
