Lincoln men rout Livin' the Dream for exhibition win

The Lincoln men's basketball team dominated the first half Monday night for an 84-65 exhibition victory against Livin' the Dream at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers led 47-24 at halftime, shooting 51.4 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and making 9-of-19 3-pointers in the opening half.

Lincoln never trailed in the game and jumped out to an 18-2 lead less than 10 minutes in. A 9-0 run with three baskets by Joe Davis and a 3 from DJ Ward extended that lead to 27-5.

The Blue Tigers led by as many as 27 points in the first half at 40-13.

Livin' the Dream outscored Lincoln 41-37 in the second half, but never got as close as 13 points of the lead.

Bansi King led the Blue Tigers with 16 points, while L'Kielynn Taylor and Davis each scored 10 points. DaMani Jarrett grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with seven points and Cameron Potts, one of nine Blue Tigers to score nine points, added seven assists.

Jamal Mitchell scored a game-high 20 points for Livin' the Dream. Amariontez Ivory, a former Lincoln Blue Tiger, added 15 points with three 3-pointers.

Lincoln (2-1) returns to regular-season play Friday against Harris-Stowe State in the Show-Me Classic at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
