The Lincoln women's basketball team had an eight-point fourth-quarter lead disappear Saturday, as the Blue Tigers dropped their home opener 69-68 to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics at Jason Gym.
Lincoln held a 68-63 lead with less than two minutes to play after Vivian Chigbu made a pair of free throws for the Blue Tigers. Lincoln missed two shots and committed three turnovers down the stretch.
Elizabeth Allanach made a layup for St. Louis College of Pharmacy and added a pair of free throws with just more than a minute left, making the score 68-67.
Grace Beyer made a pair of free throws with less than 30 seconds to play to give the Eutectics a one-point lead. On the other end, Lincoln's Virja Lewis missed a pair of free throws with :03 left.
Lincoln led 18-14 after one quarter and St. Louis College of Pharmacy tied the score at 31 by halftime. The Blue Tigers won the scoring battle 21-13 in the third quarter to take a 52-44 advantage.
Chigbu led Lincoln with 26 points and 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Alecia Gulledge and Kaloni Pryear each added 10 points for the Blue Tigers.
Grace Beyer had 24 points to lead St. Louis College of Pharmacy (3-2), which counted Saturday's game as an exhibition on its schedule.
Lincoln (0-3) hosts MacMurray College on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
