College Wrestling: Kuster finishes in third place

ST. LOUIS - Drury sophomore Peter Kuster took third place out of 11 wrestlers at 141 pounds Saturday in the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open, hosted by Maryville University.

Kuster (Jefferson City High School) lost a 3-2 decision to Purdue's Alec White, then won each of his next four matches.

In the consolation bracket, Kuster won 8-3 against Aaron Rugnao of Campbellsville (Ky.), then won 7-0 against Keshawn Laws of Cumberland (Tenn.). After winning by medical forfeit, Kuster won a 6-5 decision against Indianapolis' Matt McKinney in the third-place match.

White finished second at 141, losing a 4-3 decision to Indianapolis' Breyden Bailey in the championship match.

Along with a 5-3 win against Nate Keim in the Panther's season-opening 41-3 dual loss to No. 13 Central Oklahoma, Kuster has a 5-1 record this season.

Drury competes Nov. 23 in the Lindenwood Open.
