College Cross Country: CMU's Knernschield named all-conference

FAYETTE - Central Methodist senior Elliot Knernschield finished in sixth place Saturday to lead the Eagles in the Heart of America Athletic Conference championships at Fayette Golf Course.

Knernschield (Helias High School) posted the Eagles' second-fastest time of 26:29.06 in the 8K race. Central Methodist finished seventh in the team standings with 152 points.

Knernschield received all-conference honors for placing in the top 10 in the race, which consisted of 119 runners. He will compete in the NAIA national championships, which take place Nov. 22 at Vancouver, Wash.

Senior Joe Bruemmer (Helias High School) finished 53rd with a time of 29:14.91 for the Eagles, while senior Ryan Bennett (Eldon High School) took 103rd in 33:23.86.

In the women's 5K race, Missouri Valley freshman Lindsey Brandt (Russellville High School) posted the Vikings' top time, placing 41st out of 110 runners in a time of 22:16.53. The Vikings placed 12th in the team standings with 343 points.
