Track and Field: Fife, Roberson compete in NCAA West Preliminary

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Missouri redshirt senior Will Fife and Southern Illinois junior Alexis Roberson each had their seasons come to an end last week in the NCAA West Preliminary Championships.

Roberson (Jefferson City High School) competed in the women's hammer throw Thursday. She finished 24th out of 48 regional qualifiers with a personal-best throw of 193 feet, 2 inches.

Fife (Helias High School) competed in the men's shot put Saturday. He finished 23rd out of 48 qualifiers with a throw of 60-8.75. This was Fife's final collegiate competition, and his personal best in the shot put is 61-7, set last month at Missouri's Tom Botts Invitational.

The top-12 finishers in each Preliminary event advance to the NCAA outdoor track and field championships. In the West, the cut to make the national championships in the women's hammer throw was 201-9, while the cut in the men's shot put was 62-8.5.
