Homer in 10th sends Outlaws past Renegades

JOPLIN - Jon Prudhom led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run Wednesday night as the Joplin Outlaws edged the Jefferson City Renegades 5-4 in MINK League action.

Prudhom hit a 1-1 pitch for a homer to cap an Outlaws rally. Joplin led 3-1 after one inning before Jefferson City scored a run in the sixth and two in the eighth to take a 4-3 lead.

The Outlaws then tied it in the bottom of the ninth before Prudhom ended it in the 10th with his second home run of the season to hand the Renegades their sixth straight loss.

Lane Threlkeld took the loss, allowing a run on a hit in an inning of work. He walked two and struck out one.

Lukas Veinbergs pitched the first six innings, allowing three runs on three hits and five walks while recording three strikeouts.

Shane Fontenot pitched two innings, giving up a run on a hit and two walks.

Lincoln Orellana had three hits, one his third home run of the season, and two RBI for the Renegades. Paul Haupt had two hits in an eight-hit Renegade attack.

The Renegades (14-16 overall, 10-16 MINK) will play Friday at Nevada. The Outlaws are now 18-14, 12-13.

Earlier Wednesday, Gavin Strobel of the Rengades was named the MINK League Player of the Week.

Last week, Strobel hit .553 (8-of-15) with a home run and seven RBI. Strobel (Jefferson City High School) will be a sophomore at Central Missouri this fall.
