Men's Soccer: Columbia College advances to Elite Eight

IRVINE, Calif. - The Columbia College Cougars defeated Baker 2-1 on Tuesday to advance to the Elite Eight of the NAIA men's soccer national championships.

Matheus Albuquerque scored in the second overtime period to keep the Cougars' season alive.

Freshman forward Nick Brandt (Helias High School) had one of the Cougars' eight shots in the win.

Columbia College won their Opening Round on Nov. 23 with a 2-1 victory against Embry-Riddle. Brandt had one shot on goal in that contest.

In 22 starts this season, Brandt had scored seven goals with 39 shots - 20 on goal - to go with seven assists, leading the Cougars with 21 points.

Columbia College (22-0), the No. 2 seed in the national championships, will play seventh-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. today.
