Cross Country: Haller places in top 50 at NAIA championships

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Columbia College sophomore Brianna Haller finished in 40th place at the NAIA women's cross country national championships, held Nov. 22 at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

Haller (Fatima High School) crossed the finish line in the 5K race in 18:50.30 to lead the Cougars, who finished in 24th place in the team standings out of 37 schools with 594 points. A total of 341 runners competed in the women's race.

Last season, Haller finished 59th at the national championships. The top 30 runners receive All-American status.

Freshman Emma Homfeldt (Calvary Lutheran High School) came in 308th place with a time of 22:11.60 for the Cougars.

In the men's 8K race at the NAIA national championships, Central Methodist senior Elliot Knernschield (Helias High School) took 143rd place out of 335 runners, posting a time of 26:42.90.

William Woods junior Hunter Carpenter (California High School) placed 255th with a time of 27:47.50. The Owls, which qualified for the national championships as a team, were 31st out of 37 schools with a score of 846 points.
