In a ceremony at Kirkwood High School on Thursday afternoon, Jairus "Jay" Maclin verbally committed to Missouri.

Maclin, a wide receiver like his cousin, Jeremy - who was an All-American for Gary Pinkel's Tigers in 2007 and 2008 - chose his in-state school instead of offers from Arizona State and Indiana.

A three-star recruit listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Maclin is Missouri's third commitment of the 2020 class, all of which are from the St. Louis area. Chaminade QB Brady Cook committed in September 2018, and St. Francis Howell OL Drake Heismeyer committed in March.

The NCAA's early signing period runs from Dec. 18-20 this year, and the regular signing period is Feb. 5-April 1, 2020.

Maclin caught 45 passes for nine touchdowns and 762 yards during his junior season for Kirkwood. The Pioneers beat Lafayette-Wildwood 44-6 in the first round of the Class 6 District 3 Tournament and Eureka 25-14 in the second round before losing 49-14 at Joplin in the district championship game.
