The Missouri softball team could not finish off its first-ever sweep of a top-10 opponent, but the No. 19 Tigers left Fayetteville, Ark. with a series win after No. 6 Arkansas won Monday's finale 8-4.

Missouri (34-11, 12-6 Southeastern Conference) won Saturday's game 6-3 and Sunday's game 10-1 as the pitching staff issued some walks but held the Razorbacks' high-powered offense to a .089 batting average.

The bats for Arkansas (38-6, 17-4 SEC) came alive Monday, as the Razorbacks had 13 hits, including both a three-run homer and a solo home run in the first inning.

Kim Wert and Emma Raabe both hit two-run home runs for the Tigers in the fourth inning, and Missouri loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh but Hatti Moore grounded into a double play to end the game.

Lauren Howell (Helias High School) pitched the seventh inning of Sunday's game for Arkansas, allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out one. Sunday was her second SEC appearance of the season and her eighth overall appearance. Howell, a true freshman, is 2-0 with a 5.01 ERA in 22 innings this year.

Missouri closes out its regular season home schedule this weekend against Florida, with a 6:30 p.m. start Friday, a 4 p.m. start Saturday and an 11 a.m. start Sunday. The Gators (35-7, 14-4 SEC) are ranked No. 3 in the nation.

The Tigers are tied with Alabama for the third spot in the SEC standings at 12-6, behind Arkansas and Florida.
