Your Opinion: Trump's returning, but not soon enough

Dear Editor:

Even though out of office, former President Donald Trump remains in the minds of Dems everywhere; so afraid he will be back running in 2024. A recent LTE suggested we might all be better had Clinton won in 2016; that we would be spared the controversies of wasted committees, investigations of voter fraud, and questions of whether COVID was handled correctly. The suggestion is that in many eyes Trump was viewed as the "lesser of two evils." BTW, Hillary didn't lose Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan because of "Gun Laws," she lost because those voters anticipated even more jobs being sucked overseas, just like under former President Obama.

The LTE is free to speculate about "what if," but I know what did happen during Trump's years: America gained 7 million new jobs (three times government experts' projections); middle-class family income increased $6,000 (five times the gains under Obama); unemployment rate reached 3.5 percent (lowest in 50 years); jobless claims hit 50-year low; 7 million people off food stamps; 1.2 million manufacturing/construction jobs; Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, largest tax reform package in history; created 9,000 Opportunity Zones where capital gains on long-term investments are taxed at zero; withdrew from the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and replaced North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA); tariffs on billions worth of Chinese goods to protect American jobs; made the USA an energy exporter (first time in 70 years); doubled the Child Tax Credit to $2,000/child and expanded the eligibility for receiving the credit; suspended all travel from China and restricted travel to Middle East and European locations, saving thousands of lives; launched Operation Warp Speed to initiate an unprecedented drive to develop and make available an effective vaccine by January 2021; built 400-plus miles of border wall dropping illegal crossings by 87 percent; to just name a few.

I disagree that America is not currently blessed with the lesser of two evils in the White House. This Biden Gang "that can't shoot straight" has a border so porous that literally a couple million people from "who knows where?" have come to illegally live with us; and failures in Afghanistan, energy policy, the economy, supply chain management, law enforcement/crime a failure, and on and on.

'What if' won't stop Trump he's coming not soon enough.
