Your Opinion: School district to reconsider left-wing curriculum

Curtis Thompson

Jefferson City

Dear Editor:

On March 26 this paper printed an LTE from me regarding Jefferson City School Board and its decision to retain a far-left website tolerance.org, now Teaching for Tolerance, on its curriculum. On Feb. 22, the board voted unanimously to retain that site. I continued to write the board about its decision and urged it to reverse itself. The only responses I received from board members were from Ms. Massman, who reiterated the board's position to keep it in the curriculum and stated she would make no further comment on the issue. That website is full of racist, Marxist lies and distortions, and clearly false analogies, including promoting critical race theory and the lies of the 1619 Project.

Critical race theory claims that everyone is either a victim or an oppressor and demands retribution for what it views as the systemic racism in this country, which I have previously shown does not exist except in Democrat-controlled areas. I urge you to find comments about critical race theory from Robert Woodson, Heather MacDonald, Carol Swain and 1776 Unites program. Not that it is important to conservatives like me, but Mr. Woodson and professor Swain are Black intellectuals who dismiss critical race theory as false doctrine. Professor Swain was suspended from Facebook for displaying Democrats as members of the Ku Klux Klan. Democrats founded the Klan, endorsed the Klan, funded the Klan, and Democrat Robert Byrd was an officer of the Klan. Facebook cannot handle the truth!

According to the chief of learning, the board will decide on May 10 whether to adopt a new curriculum that includes the current reference or remove it. I urge all parents and taxpayers to write and call the board and urge it to remove the site under its old name, tolerance.org, or its new one, Teaching for Tolerance, and urge it to add 1776 Unites, which explains the true history of this country. We are actual bosses of the school board, and it should not promote the divisiveness that critical race theory promotes.

I also urge parents to monitor their students' classes as I have reason to believe that classes being taught currently promote critical race theory and 1619 Project. If you can observe Zoom classes or request permission to sit in classes that may be espousing those theories, please do so and report your findings. They are destructive to this country.
