Your Opinion: Trump enthusiasm bordering on cult status

Dear Editor:

The current enthusiasm, by the major political players in the Republican Party, for Donald Trump running as president of the United States in 2024, is bordering on cult status. Totally ignoring his advice regarding COVID-19 (called "China virus" by Trump) as just another flu-like condition that could be weathered out and would disappear beginning in the summer of 2020 leading to the public rejecting COVID-19 shot therapy.

A paragraph from the book "Coldest Winter" describing the status of Joseph Stalin in 1949 may be the closest similarity between followers of Stalin and those of Donald Trump.

"According to the historian Walter Laquer, it started in December 1929, at the time of Stalin's fiftieth birthday. Leonid Leonov, a prominent Russian writer of the time, typically wrote of the great man that "the day would come when all mankind would revere him and history would recognize him as the starting point of time, not Jesus Christ."

Yes, certainly absurd, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's a possibility.
