Your Opinion: Mo. officials should reflect on Kim's example

Dear Editor:

As disgusting and sickening as I found the images on my television screen to be this past Wednesday, there was one image that genuinely touched my heart.

After all the smoke had cleared and a modicum of order had been restored, and members of Congress were allowed to move about and resume their duties, U.S. Rep. Andy Kim, of New Jersey, came into the Capitol Rotunda, in a suit, picked up a trash bag, got down on his hands and knees, and for an hour and a half, picked up garbage and trash that the mob had left behind.

It shames and saddens me to admit that Rep. Kim is a better Christian, a better American, and a better man than me but that's a fact. That said, I thank you Rep. Kim for your service and your example. You bring honor to your office and to your state.

Missouri's own elected officials in Washington would do well to reflect on Rep. Kim's example. Service, integrity and honor are concepts with which they are apparently unfamiliar. I, for one, will most definitely not be following any of their examples in the foreseeable future.
