Your Opinion: Hawley's bid for the presidency

Dear Editor:

Congratulations to U.S. senator from Missouri Josh Hawley on coming one step closer to announcing his candidacy for President of the United States in 2024!

By ensuring you were the first U.S. senator to publicly state you would officially object to the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, you put yourself at the top of the list of Trump supporters searching for their next presidential candidate. You bravely looked at the lack of any kind of evidence of voter fraud or widespread irregularities. You staunchly refused to acknowledge the scores of Trump-backed lawsuits thrown out by judges (from both parties) across the country. You proudly held your ground even when your respected mentor, former U.S. Sen. John Danforth, of Missouri, criticized you in the media for promoting "conspiracy theories."

You are truly the sort of candidate disgruntled Trump voters are looking to for 2024. I hope that in your political ads, you take full advantage of the glorious photo of you raising your fist in support of the protesters in Washington, many of whom would soon become rioters. Even after the "treasonous" actions of many of those Trump supporters who illegally and violently entered one of the most sacred buildings in the United States, you stuck to your guns - and so did, literally, many of them - and voted against certifying the electoral votes for Biden and Harris. (Also make good use of the video of like-minded patriots climbing the walls and committing acts of vandalism in the House of the People.)

Again, my congratulations and good wishes in your journey to national prominence. As a show of my support, I've come up with a slogan for your 2024 campaign: "Hawley in 2024! It's not about the facts, it's about your fear and anger."
