Your Opinion: LU's enrollment drop due to racism?

Dear Editor:

Lincoln University enrollment has dropped considerably. I remember back around 1985 I thought I would like to go back to school to get a degree. I went to LU because it was convenient. After initial paperwork, I was referred to a counselor to help me choose the classes I needed to earn my degree. Within a few minutes of sitting down with him, a young Black man, he told me "white people are not welcome here." So, I left.

Not too long after while listening to KLUM, LU's radio station at the time. I heard a Black woman closing her segment of the program say, "Enny menny minny moe catch a honky by the toe." Could this plain racism be part of the cause of the enrollment drop?
