Your Opinion: How stupid do they think we are?

Dear Editor:

Do you find it as disappointing as I do when our elected officials think we are just plain stupid? Case-in-point, less than two years ago, November 2018, we, "the people," passed Clean Missouri by over 60 percent. Now the MO General Assembly is trying to overturn what we did by placing Amendment No. 3 on the November ballot.

Clean Missouri was an initiative to clean up Missouri politics and politicians. It reduces the power of special interest and assures that legislative district boundaries are not drawn by politicians, but by experts. Fairly drawn districts will give a fair chance to anyone who wants to run for office, not just to the current officeholder.

Of course, the Missouri General Assembly wants to overturn Clean Missouri!

They say we didn't understand, and they need to protect us from our stupidity. They are wrong. Worse yet, to give their self-serving Amendment No. 3 a better chance, they made sure the ballot language was as confusing as possible. I say they are the ones who don't understand! We knew exactly what we were doing in 2018, and tricky language aside, we know how to vote in 2020. Vote no on Amendment No. 3. Keep Clean Missouri.
