Your Opinion: A president should honor veterans

Dear Editor: I am a Vietnam-era veteran. I was one of 9 million who served during Vietnam. In that conflict, 303,000 were wounded, 75,000 were severely disabled, and 58,000 died. I was never assigned to go to Vietnam, but I would have if asked. It's called doing your duty.

I have never been a flag waver, nor do I believe my country right or wrong. I believe as a country, if we make mistakes, we should own up to them and correct them to the best of our ability.

But never would I do anything to discredit nor dishonor the men and women who serve. For anyone to do that would be abhorrent.

For Donald Trump, as president, to do it is repulsive.

So, veterans, your nation is calling you one more time. We must vote and make certain that no one who believes the men and women in the military are "losers" and "suckers" ever gets the opportunity to send them into combat.
