Dear Editor:
People like to use words especially politicians. Republicans are still crying “socialism” to Americans.
“Democrats are socialists, communists!” That is what LTE writers and their Republican friends say.
On Oct. 11 (Pirates Day), I read Brad Gitz’s piece in the News Tribune about socialism.
It is true we don’t have a socialist dictatorship like Russia and China had. If we are unfortunate enough to have Trump take over the White House again, we may.
Yah, we got some social programs here in the good ole USA, programs “people want!” People want Social Security and Medicare, better, less-expensive healthcare, help for the poor, educational help, crap yah!
Can you imagine what it would be like if we didn’t have these government programs? Many, many more Americans would be in severe poverty. Capitalist greedsters want it all.
I have said it before more than once, Republicans are socialists too.
Capitalists or capitalism is also a form of socialism. Politicians do the bidding of big business. When capitalists get in trouble, recession, depression, who runs to the government for help?
Who sends the most politician contributions to congressmen, the wealthy and big business, to ensure “their” socialism.
The wealthy capitalist socialists want their tax cuts and stimulus handouts when things take a downturn. We see this every few years, and during the pandemic.
If Republicans didn’t support the capitalist socialists — and yes many Democrats — capitalism would go down the rabbit-hole. I think probably a good outcome.
Donald Trump is a socialist. How do you think he made his money? I’ll tell you, government help, just like others do.
By the way, the Soviet Union and China never made it to true communism. Real communism is basically by and for the people. Oh, yah! Do your studies.
