Your Opinion: Are public pools serious about pandemic changes?

Dear Editor:

How ironic. Just days after we read about the outcry from public health officials over the total disregard for social distancing at public gatherings at Lake of the Ozarks during Memorial Day weekend, the front page of the News Tribune runs an article about safety measures for the reopening of the Jefferson City's pools - with a photo of pool staff sitting side-by-side while receiving "instruction on general pool safety rules plus the newly-instituted changes due to the novel coronavirus."

How serious are those changes? Apparently, they don't involve social distancing during staff meetings.
