Your Opinion: JCPS has excelled during pandemic

Dear Editor:

As a parent of two current JCPS students, I have been pleased and often impressed with the response of the Jefferson City Schools during this pandemic. Although the buildings may have appeared idle during this time, the administrators, teachers and staff most certainly have not.

The scale and efficiency of the technological transition from traditional schooling has been particularly impressive. Both of my children have had ample assigned work and engagement with their teachers and classmates during school closure.

The technology department was creative and nimble in handling the repair of one of my student's Chromebooks and the TJMS teachers were helpful in accessing an instrument from school in order for my child to practice during the shutdown.

My daughter's math teacher has even been calling just to check in with our family to make sure we are managing successfully.

Although my family has not personally required assistance from the Mission Nutrition Program, it deserves community recognition as well. Totally outstanding.

The pandemic has presented our entire society novel challenges to overcome. JCPS has not only made the best of difficult situation but has excelled.
