Your Opinion: Fish shouldn't be fairground prizes

Dear Editor:

A fish is a living creature, not just a fairground prize. Would the trip to the upcoming fair be any less exciting without these victims of the carnival industry?

The goldfish are won through the trade of terror having no option and little hope of surviving a cruel and inhumane death through neglect and abandonment. Some are found dead on the ground and others in the garbage cans awaiting death where they have been thrown away while still alive.

Please avoid the stall completely - no customers, no profit. If people stopped paying to win a goldfish they would stop being offered as prizes.

Are there no better prizes to be given away than live animals?
