Your Opinion: Will honest Republicans stand up for us?

Dear Editor:

Republicans seems to have totally disregarded fairness and honesty in their quest to control public institutions and feed their greed.

The Jan. 15 edition of the NT with the headline "GOP seeks to undo new redistricting model" reports that Republican senators are trying to undo a plan passed by Missouri voters by 62 percent. Republicans want to eliminate political fairness and competitiveness because it is likely to lead to Democratic gains. This only demonstrates low character and their desire to control government for their benefit.

Any honest person with half a brain can see that Donald Trump committed a crime by trying to have Joe Biden investigated by a foreign government. Even the people around him testified as such. There can be no doubt of his guilt. Republicans will vote to keep him in office verifying their dishonesty.

Sen. Mike Bernskoetter and Gov. Mike Parson passed a bill to allow confined animal feeding operations to operate in Missouri with no health regulations by counties. There has been pollution by CAFOs in every state where they operate and in Callaway County. Cole County commissioners refused to act before the law took effect thereby dooming us to detrimental health consequences forever. How can they do that? Scheperle, Hoelscher and Bushman are only interested in making certain that someone can take advantage of citizens to make money. Because of the LTE by the lobbyist of the Missouri Farm Bureau, we can safely assume that they are responsible for this awful decision. If that is incorrect, I hope someone will tell us in this column.

I know there are some honest and sincere Republicans. They seem to have been overwhelmed by people who only have their personal benefits at heart. Will any of these honest Republicans stand up for the people of Missouri?
