Your Opinion: Open U.S.; shut down lawless demonstrators

Dear Editor:

President Trump is right, we have to open the country. We need a strong economy to have a strong country. We need the business, the factories, the processors open. People need jobs to pay their bills, feed their families.

The federal government is supporting the states in their fight against COVID-19 with supplies and personnel. Individuals have to take personal responsibility to protect themselves and others from the virus. President Trump has fast-tracked the possibility of getting a vaccine for COVID-19. The sooner the better!

Now the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives is proposing another $3 trillion stimulus package. There is $1 trillion not spent from the last package.

I have an idea, each and every senator or representative should have to contribute $100,000 for each year they served as a representative or senator to the reduction of the national debt. Put it on the ballot, let the people vote on the proposal.

Riot demonstrators and destruction cannot go on. What is going on in some cities has nothing to do with Black Lives Matter. It is a revolution against our country. We just lost John Lewis, a highly respected Black leader. Would he condone this destruction?

President Trump is right to send in federal agents to protect government property. Destruction of federal property is a federal crime. President Trump is concerned about protecting the citizens, their homes, their businesses located in the areas of destruction. The president and the federal agents are not the problems as governors and mayors claim. Local mayors, governors, the news media, even senators, representatives, former Vice President Joe Biden are supporting the demonstrators, saying "They are not the problem!" News media, report the facts! Let the federal agents do their job!

We have three national enemies in our country: COVID-19, the lawless demonstrators and those who support them.

To the citizens of the troubled areas: It is an election year. Vote the problem people out of office. Save your cities and our country.

We should be proud to be Americans. I remember when we were the United States of America. United we stand, divided we fall. One nation under God.
