Your Opinion: Fear-mongering media and coronavirus

Dear Editor:

I call your attention to two articles regarding errors in testing statistics which I feel is much more rampant than is being reported and telling as to a major reason why the virus seems to be increasing. The mainstream media in its attempt to continue the fear-mongering to facilitate headlines is advancing this corruption and/or incompetence by its silence.

Both July 21 articles are by Hannah Bleau.

- "Connecticut Reports Dozens of False Positive Coronavirus Tests" (www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/07/21/connecticut-reports-dozens-false-positive-coronavirus-tests/). Quotes from the article: "Dr. Razeq called the discovery 'alarming'"; "When we started looking at the background information on these specimens, we realized that these specimens should have not been reported as positives. After retesting 161 positive samples associated with 144 patients, the team found that only 54 patients actually tested positive for the virus."

- "Gov. DeSantis Calls for Investigation as Those Not Tested for Coronavirus Receive Positive Results" (www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/07/21/gov-desantis-calls-for-investigation-as-those-not-tested-for-coronavirus-receive-positive-results/). A quote from the article: "Fox 35 News reported, noting that people claimed they left the premises prior to getting tested. Despite that, they later received positive test results. Fox 4 has also received reports of this happening. People have said they submitted their contact information at a COVID-19 testing site, but after seeing how long the line was, they decided not to wait an hour or more to get the test. Nevertheless, a few days later, they got an email or a phone call telling them that they tested positive."

A May 4 article by Hollie McKay should shed some light on the interest in falsely reporting virus positives: "Hospitals are paid more for Medicare patients confirmed or presumed to have coronavirus" (www.foxnews.com/health/hospitals-medicare-patients-cost-coronavirus).

I contend that the trillions flowing from us taxpayers are a goldmine for virus testing contractors and medical facilities such that the temptation to keep it going is causing we citizens to succumb to unbelievable pain and suffering.

It's past time for the media to stop the fear-mongering and start doing their job of rooting out the corruption with the truth of what's really going on with this virus testing and treatment!

God Save America!
