Your Opinion: U.S. reps should honor Constitution

Dear Editor:

Last week, I sent a letter to my congressional representatives (senators and my rep) regarding protecting our elections by speaking out against requests to foreign nations to become involved in domestic politics. Only one replied, with a form letter.

Well today, these busy congressional representatives enabled more problems by not standing up to Trump's overreach last week. Trump's unilateral decision on Syria impacts American security; albeit not as much as a compromised election, but it is a grave security decision. The Syria announcement is unjustified, it is wrong, it is not in America's best interests, it abandons the only ally willing to bleed for the U.S. in the Middle East, and it is executive overreach. You, congressional representatives, are supposed to be taking care of the security of the U.S. These are grave times, and you, congressional representatives, have not stood up against foreign interference in our elections, and you, congressional representatives, have enabled a weak petulant person to obliterate decades of foreign policy. The man continues to deliver a Putin narrative, and you, congressional representatives, are enablers.

Stand up for the Constitution, be a patriot and stop this erosion of American greatness. Honor the oath of office you pledged to the Constitution. The partisanship has to stop, and you must honor your pledge to the Constitution.
