Your Opinion: Abortion clinic more important than killing of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi?

Dear Editor:

Again this morning (10/29) I could not avoid a headline "Hearing begins on fate of Missouri's lone abortion clinic." Apparently the News Tribune feels the future of an abortion clinic is more newsworthy than the killing of one of the world's most heinous human beings. The only article even referring to it is on page A6.

Of course the NT is not alone in their attempt to mollify and downplay this historic event. The Washington Post published an obituary (10/27) lamenting his death and calling him an "austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State." During special coverage of President Donald Trump's announcement on Sunday of the successful mission, National Public Radio (NPR) praised the man as a "real leader," "A movement we've never seen before."

For all you NT subscribers who care more about our nation than abortion, I refer to the following facts about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi from Wikipedia: "Baghdadi was the Iraqi-born leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Baghdadi was directly involved in atrocities and human rights violations conducted by ISIL. These include genocide of Yazidis in Iraq, extensive sex slavery, organized rape, floggings, and systematic executions. He directed terrorist activities and massacres. He embraced brutality as part of the organization's propaganda efforts, producing videos displaying mass crucifixions, sex slavery and executions via hacking, stoning, and burning. From 2011, a reward of $10 million was offered for Baghdadi by the U.S. State Department, increasing to $25 million in 2017, for information or intelligence on his whereabouts to enable capture, dead or alive. On Oct. 27, he killed himself and three children by detonating a suicide vest during the Barisha raid conducted by the Joint Special Operations Command's (JSOC) 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (SFOD-D), commonly known as Delta Force, in Syria's northwestern Idlib Province, according to a statement by President Donald Trump."

How can anyone have such little respect for our soldiers and countless civilians that have been killed under this barbarian's leadership that they can attempt to sugarcoat, ignore or downplay his horrible legacy? It's past time the NT and the leftist media gets over the hate for Donald Trump and returns to responsible journalism which is sorely needed if our precious Republic is to survive as created!

God Bless America!
