Leonard J Steinman II

Jefferson City

Dear Editor:

We just paid some federal workers for basically a six-week vacation and now they want to put temporary tent cities for hundreds of refugees?

Isn’t it amazing that the $5 billion dollars the administration wanted for building the border wall is almost the same as the cost for these temporary tent cities? There are already facilities available for rent or lease in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California that would work to house the refugees at most likely a lot lower cost to the United States taxpayer. That’s right folks, we will be the ones footing the bill for this in the long run.

I know the 2020 election is coming up fast and that both the Democrats and Republicans want these monies to float into their various campaign coffers. It is like being on a federal type of welfare.

If you really want to serve the citizens of our great nation, then pay your own way. I do.
