Father Helias Knights of Columbus Council 1054 recently honored one of its members with the organization's Charles J. Kolb Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ron Vossen, a member for more than 40 years, received the honor during the council's annual officer installation program.

Vossen has held a number of council offices including financial secretary, deputy grand knight and grand knight, according to a news release from the council. He just finished a two-year term as inside guard.

Vossen also established the annual Teacher Appreciation Dinner. The dinner is a project of all three Jefferson City knights' councils to honor Catholic educators and staff during Catholic Schools Week. It has been an annual event for more than 30 years.

Vossen also credited with revitalizing and chairs the council's Bob Jones Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Catholic education.

Vossen has been an educator at Helias Catholic High School since 1979, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the parish's Holy Name Society.

Vossen's wife, Carol, also received recognition for her support of the council.

The council also installed officers for the 2020-21 fraternal year, which began July 1. Those officers include Grand Knight Kevin Stegeman; Deputy Grand Knight, Rory Stegeman; Chaplain Rev. Basil Tigga; Chancellor Chris Farmer; Advocate Mike Bish; Recorder Tom Oakes; Warden Zeke Vanderfeltz; Inside Guard Tory Brondel; Outside Guard Levi Woods; Lecturer Larry Schetzler; Trustees Pat Schaefer, Brent Cain and Mike Flanagan; and Financial Secretary Dan Smith.
