Wednesday marks deadline for voting registry

Wednesday is the last day to register to vote in the March 10 Missouri presidential primary election.

Cole County Clerk Steve Korsmeyer's office will be open until 5 p.m. Wednesday. The clerk's office is located on the second floor of the Courthouse Annex on High Street.

County residents who are not properly registered at their current address will need to update their address. An address change form is available at colecounty.org/clerk.

The clerk's office has received 195 of the absentee ballots staff have mailed out as of Monday, Korsmeyer said. The last day to mail out an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Feb. 26.

Absentee voting will continue in the clerk's office until 5 p.m. March 9. As of Monday, four people have cast a ballot in the clerk's office.

Democratic candidates in Missouri's primary election, listed in the order they will appear on the ballot, include Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer, Tulsi Gabbard, Leonard J. Steinman II, Cory Booker, Joseph Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Velma Steinman, Henry Hewes, Andrew Yang, Roque De La Fuente, John K. Delaney, Julian Castro, Deval Patrick, Marianne Williamson, Michael Bennet, Michael R. Bloomberg, Steve Burke, Robby Wells and Willam C. (Bill) Haas.

The Republican candidates are Donald J. Trump, Bob Ely, Bill Weld, Joe Walsh and Matthew John Matern.

The Libertarian candidate is Jacob Hornberger.

The Green Party candidates are Howie Hawkins, Dario Hunter and David Rolde.

The candidates for the Constitution Party are Don J. Grundmann and Don Blankenship.

As in all primary elections, voters may take only one party's ballot.

Missouri voters' choices help determine how delegates vote at the parties' national conventions, where the final candidates are chosen.

There was a 40 percent voter turnout in Cole County in the 2016 primary election.

"I'm predicting a 30 percent turnout right now, but things could change in the next few weeks," Korsmeyer said Monday.
