U.S. 54 traffic in Cole County will be affected by the next phase of a large resurfacing and guard cable installation project beginning next week.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin sealing the shoulders of U.S. 54 and will continue installing median guard cable next week between Jefferson City and Eugene, according to a MoDOT news release.

The work will require daily lane closures on eastbound and westbound U.S. 54.

Signs will guide motorists through the work zone.

The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.

The overall project began in January with work on U.S. 54 between the Stadium Boulevard intersection in Jefferson City and the Miller County line.
