Mobile unit to provide veterans services

Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital and the Columbia Veterans Center are teaming up to provide area veterans with services through the Mobile Vet Center, a 37-foot-long mobile resource unit.

Services available include Veterans Health Administration enrollment, as well as counseling for post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma. Bereavement, marriage and family counseling also are available. Additional resources include VA benefits information and suicide prevention referrals.

The customized vehicle is equipped with confidential counseling space to extend access to VA services to veterans, service members and their families. The MVC also provides readjustment counseling and information resources to assist veterans in the difficult transition between military and civilian life.

The mobile unit will visit Jefferson City from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at T.J. Maxx, 3535 Missouri Blvd.
