Officials ID dead in Springfield house fire as family of 4

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Four people killed last week in a Springfield house fire were a mother and her three children, fire officials said.

The Springfield Fire Department identified the victims in a news release as 40-year-old Marlana Young, 13-year-old Nevaeh Young, 11-year-old Rayden Young, and 6-year-old Samantha Young.

Fire crews were called to the blaze early Friday morning and learned several people were inside the home. Firefighters pulled the four from the burning home and rushed them in critical condition to a Springfield hospital, where Marlana Young and Samantha died shortly after arriving.

The two other children died a day later from their injuries, officials said.

Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.
