Driver accused in crash death charged with manslaughter

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A driver accused of running a red light in downtown St. Louis last year and causing a crash that killed a 17-year-old girl has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

La'Javion Ramsey, 26, of East St. Louis, was charged Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Prosecutors have said he was driving more than 20 mph (32.2 kph) over the speed limit when his car hit a pickup truck at a downtown intersection around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 17.

Sierra Rubymae Ward-Micke, 17, of De Soto, was in the bed of the truck when the crash happened, police said. She was thrown from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
