Police say man shot to death in northeast Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A man died after being shot in northeast Kansas City, police there said.

The shooting was reported around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday along Thompson Avenue. Officers who arrived at the scene found evidence of a shooting, but no victims, according to a police news release.

A short time later, police were contacted by fire officials who said that firefighters had been flagged down by a person reporting a man in her car suffering from a gunshot wound. Firefighters began life-saving measures, but the victim - later identified as 36-year-old Keith Lars - died at the scene.

Police believe Lars had been shot at the Thompson Avenue scene. No arrests have been reported.
