KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Police in Kansas City have identified a man whose badly decomposed body was found in a wooded area of Swope Park.

The body is that of 62-year-old Ronnie Lawrence, police said Wednesday in a news release. Officers were called to the area around 7 p.m. Monday, and a person at the scene led officers to the body that was located just off a road, according to an earlier news release.

Lawrence's body was in an advanced state of decomposition, but investigators were able to determine that he had suffered significant trauma, police said. Police have ruled the death a homicide.

Police did not indicate Lawrence's cause of death on Wednesday.
