The Missouri Department of Conservation has canceled most public events and programs at its nature centers, shooting ranges and other locations around the state until April 15.

The cancellations are effective immediately and include scheduled hunter education classes, nature center programs and events, shooting range programs and events, and landowner workshops.

MDC scheduled managed hunts, mentored spring turkey hunts, and native plant sales at nature centers will continue as planned. This includes the Runge Native Plant Sale scheduled for March 28. The outside plant sale portion is currently still planned, although the indoor presentations and programs are cancelled.

All conservation areas remain open to the public. MDC offices, nature centers, and shooting ranges also remain open under normal operating hours.

Those with questions can contact their local MDC office, nature center, or shooting range with questions on specific events or programs.

The MDC's announcement also means the Missouri National Archery in the Schools (MoNASP) virtual state tournament is canceled.

"We have reports that most MoNASP-participating schools are closed or closing for the next several weeks or more," MDC MoNASP Coordinator Eric Edwards said in a news release. "With the inability for many schools to compete in the MoNASP State Virtual Tournament, we must also cancel the MoNASP state competition for this year."
